Competition Calendar

Competition Banner TWO.png

Across the motu, competitions bloomed — from nationwide contests to local treasures — inviting poets of all ages and stages to put pen to paper. Some drew hundreds of entries, others unearthed hidden gems in schools, libraries, and community halls, but together they showcased the remarkable breadth of talent in Aotearoa.

Watch this space: The first 2026 competitions will begin appearing once registrations are complete and entries are open.

POETRY BETWEEN THE LINES

In the lead-up to Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day, visit Schrödinger's Books, where you will become a poet through the medium of Blackout Poetry. Then at 6pm on Friday the 22nd, there will be an evening of poetry from Simon Sweetman (The Richard Poems) and Michael Fitzsimons (High Wire), followed by an open-mic, and the announcement of the Blackout Poetry competition winner.
