​"Kapiti Haiku" Poetry Competition

Celebrate National Poetry Day by entering Kāpiti Coast District Libraries’ fifth annual poetry competition. For the competition as a theme/poetry type ""Kapiti Haiku"". We challenge poets to write a haiku (three lines) we will accept up to 3 entries per person. Entries are open for the month of June. We have 3 age categories; Children 6 – 12 years,Teen 13 – 18 years, Adult 19+ years.

We will also host an open mic night on National Poetry Day, to announce the winners of the poetry competition and present prizes. Special guest poets will be Kapiti Poetry Workshop members starting the evening with their haiku.

We encourage entrants from the competition to read their poems and give anyone who attends the event the opportunity to read a poem.

An e-book of the haikus will be available to download for free and physical copy of the poetry book containing all entries from the competition available for sale on the night.
