  • Books Alive finalist events - Dunedin (primary and intermediate schools)

    On Thursday 1 August, Dunedin will host ‘Books Alive’ events, featuring a selection of the finalists of the 2019 New Zealand Book Awards for Children & Young Adults.

    These school events are presented by the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, in association with Dunedin Public Libraries and University Book Shop.

    Key details about the events are:
    -- They are FREE to attend
    -- They will take place at Dunedin City Library, 230 Moray Place, Dunedin

    The following events have been designed so that schools can attend both sessions and maximise appearances from these fantastic shortlisted authors. Thanks to Dunedin City Library for their support.

    SESSION 1
    9.30am - 10.15am: James T Guthrie (Bullseye Bella) and Barbara Else (Go Girl: A Storybook of Epic NZ Women) each give a presentation on their shortlisted books followed by time for questions from your curious class.

    9.30am - 10.15am: David Elliot (Oink) and Vasanti Unka (Who Stole the Rainbow?) each give a presentation on their shortlisted books followed by time for questions from your curious class.

    Break for snacks, book sales and signing!

    SESSION 2
    10.50am - 11.35am: James T Guthrie (Bullseye Bella) and Barbara Else (Go Girl: A Storybook of Epic NZ Women) each give a presentation on their shortlisted books followed by time for questions from your curious class.

    10.50am - 11.35am: David Elliot (Oink) and Vasanti Unka (Who Stole the Rainbow?) each give a presentation on their shortlisted books followed by time for questions from your curious class.

    The following events have been designed so that your school can attend both sessions so as to maximise appearances from these fantastic shortlisted authors. These events are suitable for ages 13-17 years. Thanks to Dunedin City Library for their support.

    12.30pm - 1.15pm: Rachel Craw (The Rift) talks about her incredible shortlisted book for curious readers and interested writers.

    Break for book sales and signing.

    SESSION 2
    1.30pm - 2.15pm: Eileen Merriman (Invisibly Breathing) talks about her incredible shortlisted book for curious readers and interested writers.

    Followed by book sales and signing.
