Authors confirmed for Books Alive schools programme

The 2019 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults finalists attending free Books Alive events in Dunedin, Christchurch, Hamilton and Wellington have been confirmed, and schools in these regions are invited to book in as early as possible for sessions.

The full schedule by date and venue follows. Please confirm your booking by emailing booksalive@nzbookawards.org.nz with the following:

  • The sessions you would like to book for
  • Your confirmed number of students

DUNEDIN - Primary and Intermediate Schools

10am - 10.45am: Des O’Leary (Slice of Heaven) lets you in on the secrets to creating the world of a novel in relation to his latest, lively and funny, shortlisted book for teenage readers.

Session 2
11.15am - 12.00 noon: Acclaimed writer Stacy Gregg gives a masterclass in creating stories that keep her readers coming back for more.

WELLINGTON - Primary and Intermediate Schools

VENUE: Te Papa - Te Marae (Level 4), 55 Cable Street, Wellington

Session 3
12.30pm - 1.15pm: Donovan Bixley (Te Hīnga Ake a Māui i Te Ika Whenua), Steph Matuku & Katharine Hall (Whetū Toa and the Magician), and Josh Morgan & Sacha Cotter (The Bomb)

1.30pm - 2pm: Five finalists take to the stage to answer questions from you, their readers! Come armed with the hard questions (there will be cameras and reporters awaiting …)
