Registrations Confirmed for the 2016 Calendar of Events

unleash the power of poetry.jpgRegistrations for New Zealand’s 19th annual National Poetry Day celebration closed on the 24th of May and all seed-funding allocations have now been made. We are in progress with confirming the details of over 70 events and activities. This year events will pop up in 25 different towns and cities across New Zealand with several nationwide activities that anyone can take part in no matter where they live. The full calendar of events will go live on August 3rd.

A number of poetry competitions open for submissions in the months leading up to National Poetry Day, beginning with the Kapiti Coast Matariki/Winter Poetry Competition which opens for submissions on the 1st of June.

Keep an eye on the National Poetry Day Facebook page for updates and extra opportunities to participate. In Auckland, auditions are currently open for Flock, a poetry theatre ensemble set to fly on National Poetry Day.
